ADDITIONAL DWELLING UNITS (ADU)
ADUs have been known by many names: secondary units, backyard cottages and more. HCD is the state’s leader on local ADU ordinances, which — while optional — have grown exponentially in number as more cities, counties, and homeowners become interested in ADUs as one solution to increasing the supply of affordable housing. While single-family home means that the building is usually occupied by just one household or family and consists of just one dwelling unit, ADU is certainly an additional detached house that does not share walls with other houses excluding duplexes or triplexes…
Zone Bolt Inc has put together a team of construction professionals to meet the needs for today’s market. We have been receiving requests from many homeowners and contractors to provide a construction packet and cost request for ADU(s). We developed ADU units in many major cities such as Encino, Sherman Oaks, Hollywood hills, Burbank, Glendale, Tujunga, Mission Valley, Belair, mount Washington, Pacific Palisades, West Lakes, La Habra, Los Angeles…. As state laws may change every now and then we encourage homeowners to take advantage of the new code to build their own ADU(s) to either increase the value of their own homes or/and to provide an additional source of income for homeowners.
What are the benefits of ADUs?
-
ADUs can provide a source of income for homeowners.
-
ADUs are an affordable type of home to construct in California because they do not require paying for land, major new infrastructure, structured parking, or elevators.
-
ADUs allow families to be near one another while maintaining privacy.
-
ADUs are built with cost-effective wood frame construction, which is significantly less costly than homes in new multifamily infill buildings.
-
ADUs can provide as much living space as many apartments and condominiums, and they are suited well for couples, small families, friends, young people, and seniors.
